The Self-Compassion and Self-Responsibility Dance

Self-CompassionorSelf-Responsibility?.png

When we hit the road on the personal growth path, we are often faced with paradox.

I happen to think it’s because we live in a paradox world.  Want to feel joy?  Gotta know what pain is.  In fact, have to be willing to feel both.  You get it.

Today I want to touch upon the paradox of self-responsibility and self-compassion.

I’ve been deep diving of late into the book “The Little Money Bible” after our December You Matter International Money Mindset workshop.  In fact, I’m having fun sharing a quote a day inside of our You Matter International FB group in order to keep meditating on quotes from it this month.

One quote in particular says “I hope you will see that in some instances, compassion can be described as the manifestation of love in action.  And that money is, in part, the fuel by which you express greater compassion- by transcending a poor self-image, loving yourself, being there for others; and by being grateful for the immense gift that has been bestowed upon you, the first and greatest gift you will ever receive- the gift of life.” - Stuart Wilde, The Little Money Bible

Ah!  I love looking at money, and receiving it, in connection with the practice of self-love and self-compassion.  In another part of the book however, he shares that “people now realize that they are responsible for their own empowerment.  They see that taking responsibility is a spiritual act; it allows each one the freedom to become more.  Accepting responsibility is an uncomfortable thing, for within that idea is the birth of the true individual.”

Ultimately then, our abundance or lack thereof, is part of accepting our responsibility for where we are at in the world.  And taking responsibility sounds great, until you become a victim of something atrocious, or you get diagnosed with that illness, or you are simply born into rotten circumstances.

So how do we honor our victimhood to life while looking to claim our wholeness, our healing, our empowerment?

I think that it lies in accepting a metaphysical responsibility for where we find ourselves now, as conscious adults, in life, because it is from here that we can then find the empowered view that brings us the traction to move into a renewed state of living. It is then that we can claim our power in life so as to move forward with forgiveness, love, strength, and wisdom.  From there we can then truly live life with joy, abundance, and loving relationships.

You might ask then how do I rectify becoming fully self-responsible for where I am in my life, with money and with health and with all of the things, while also having heaps of loving self-compassion for what has come about? Can I lovingly accept my imperfections, my falls, my moments of victimhood and my moments as perpetrator in order to be more fully human?  A human capable of being a bigger vehicle for real love, which sees all, accepts all, and chooses to embody and gift big heapings of acceptance to the world?

I think that holding a very loving and compassionate dose of self-responsibility is key to claiming a fulfilling life.  Maybe in fact, it’s totally an expression of self-love to accept self-responsibility (empowerment) for being able to be with life as it is.  And from as it is, we can then steer our life towards that which we want to create, all while holding huge heaps of self-love and self-compassion for the as-isness of life now.

I love that the quote on self-compassion in The Little Money Bible actually would then imply that by holding that, we actually align more to loving flow, and ultimately to gratitude and amplification of the metaphysical attraction energy that will bring more of what we are wanting into our lives.

So maybe heaps of self-responsibility (empowered view) and self-compassion can help us to bring about more loving joy in the world, manifest as action, energy, and money, that we can then spread around for the good of life!

This is certainly my mission, and I am grateful for the many of you who are aligned on this path!

Here is to a year of heaps of loving self-compassion, coupled with intentional alignment to the flow of love and divine expression in life as our Love Bomber selves.  Here is to the amplification of love in action, of connection, of healing.  Love really is brave isn’t it?

How Do You Anchor During Challenging Times?

Some days when I am doing these FB Lives,....I get on fire and I feel like, wow, that was a good one.  This is a good one!

The structure of this talk comes from my Concept Therapy days,....and then anchors to the heart that has become a major part of my work during the Love Bomb days.

I go over a four point process for anchoring and finding the Love, being a part of the New Paradigm, as a Love Bomber, all while enjoying life!

If you have any kind of challenge coming on for you and you need to find a way to anchor, this is for you.

If you are ready to be a major part of the paradigm change from the head to the heart, then this is for you AND I'd love to talk!

I have 3 spots left for the My Love Bomb Program Facilitator Training path this year and we are kicking it off in one week.  I am ready to open those up to three more kick-ass heart-centered motivated women ready to live and love across the divides we make up with our minds.

If you feel called to this, please email me and let's get the conversation rolling:  dr.rhea@blossomlife.com

Big Love!

Gamechanger Design: Quick Fix or Delayed Gratification?

If you are like me, you have definitely gotten into going for quick fixes, in fact, the more urgent the desire for change often means the higher desire for a quick fix/magic bullet.  The reality I have learned (the hard way) over time is that most of the time, if something seems to good to be true, it often is.  So, what is the alternative?  Focusing instead on the feel good of knowing you are taking small but steady steps, in the right direction, so that a year from now you can look back and say, wow, that was crazy-effective.  Almost like a magic bullet :)

What Kind of Woman Are You? (Or, How Conflict Is The Road To Peace)

Photo by Briana Marie Photography, that's me, Dr. Rhea Zimmerman Komarek, at The World Premier of Love Bomb.  I chose it because it is me being my version of brave.  Heart totally on the line.  "In the Arena" as Brene Brown would call it.

Okay.  This FB Live scared me, for a few reasons.  First of all.  WHO IN THE HECK AM I to ask you what kind of woman you are?  And since my audience is no bull shit smart as heck women, well, ha, I don't want to offend you!

And that brings me to part two of this week's scary theme, conflict.

Somehow I manage to talk about the need for conflict, or rather, the need to get with the fact that conflict is actually a part of the peace recipe.  And that leads to why for me, the kind of woman I want to be, is powerful, courageously loving, real, willing to forgive, wearing my heart on my sleeve but my wits about me.  Basically, me.  My innate version of a strong woman.

So I ask you in this one, what kind of woman are you?  Because I believe the world needs us in our vulnerability and in our strength, in our hearts and in our beautiful minds.  And especially, it needs us able to work together in empowered ways.

Whew.

See what I mean, that is an awesome and scary vision, because we know how much it takes.

Thank you for being a part of it!

Wow.  This is one of those podcast conversations where I want to say:  just listen.  Listen.

For those who need more cajoling,.....I'll share about it!  Linda Inlay is an educator who spent a career bringing a technique of culture building called "Awakening Wisdom" to schools.  She shares an incredible experience about building a culture based on responsibility, respect, resourcefulness, and responsiveness in schools.

I am inspired by the hope that she embodies for bringing change to our public schools and helping students and teachers and parents to gestate in environments that are designed to create natural and relaxed growth and development that starts with an assumption of acceptance.

As a builder of new culture with the My Love Bomb Program and a witness to seeing what happens when you intentionally create an environment of unconditional loving acceptance, I am very excited to think that her work could permeate the public domain.

If you are someone who works with teams in education, in business, or in your service work, this content can inspire you towards the system of culture that you build within yourself and those you are working with.

Together we make the worldview change from fear to love.  Inside of ourselves, and within our communities.

More on the amazing Linda:

Linda began her career as an educator at Our Lady of Sorrows School in Wahiawa, Hawaii, where she worked for fifteen years. There she collaborated with the founders of the Ho`āla Educational Philosophy, a combination of Adlerian principles and Carl Roger’s self-actualization theory. Ho`āla in Hawaiian means, “awakening of the self.” Today this way of organizing a school is called “Awakening wisdom.” This program emphasized the core values of responsibility, respect, resourcefulness, and responsiveness to be modeled by the adults in order to foster these same values in the students.

In 1988 Linda left Hawaii for California, entering the public school system and serving for eighteen years as the principal of River School in Napa County, where she introduced Awakening Wisdom. She taught parenting classes to bring home and school culture together, and during her tenure, River School received two California Distinguished School Awards, the Promising Practices Award and National School of Character Award from the Character Education Partnership, and the California School Board Association’s Golden Bell Award. In 2012 River School also became a New Tech Network School where project-based learning is infused with technology as an engaging and effective methodology for teaching and learning.

Linda has presented at numerous conferences: National Middle School Association, Character Education Partnership, California Middle School Association, National Charter Schools, California Charter Schools Association, North Coast Educational Summit. She has authored four articles published in ASCD’s Educational Leadership. Her thesis, Ho`āla School The Transformation of Character Through the Implicit Curriculum, continues to be used a training guide for teachers at schools. Her first journal article, “Creating a Culture of Respect Through the Implicit Curriculum”, was published in the January 2016 issue of Middle School Journal.

In this interview conversation we talk about our mutual discovery of landing in collaborate support with other powerful women and exciting that is to us right now.

She also shares powerfully about her own journey of landing into listening to her own innate voice and the path it has led her on as a chiropractor working with women entrepreneurs who are looking for more work-life balance and looking to gain more freedom in their lives through maintaining a healthier state.

This led her to start "The Shift", a community of women that support each other in all of the shifts in their lives.  She started it this year, and it already has three chapters with 200 members in her community.

She is a power house woman with a vision, traveling and sharing her message on stages across the world.

In this Love Bombers conversation I connect with Kate Coletti.  Kate has over 15 years of experience in women's health as a midwife, birth educator and advocate, prenatal yoga instructor, massage therapist and prenatal massage instructor, doula trainer, and mama.

She shares frankly about the power of having a strong "why" for choosing natural birth, the support network to go towards it, and how she assists women through her Enlightened Birth day retreats.  In the conversation we end up exploring the power of birth as experience, and as metaphor for any Love Bomber on a journey of creation and metamorphosis in their own lives.

I continue to be in awe of how the chemistry and physiology of our bodies mimic the very emotional and spiritual experiences we go on in our lives, and how, by design, we are meant to live in love.  From conception, to birth, to life itself.

Host Highlight: Karen Shuffler, Asheville Premier

Hi, It's Rhea here, with another Love Bomb screening host highlight.  I am learning from every person who chooses to host a theatrical screening in their community.  This hostess was a special surprise:  my sister's mother-in-law, Karen Shuffler.  In the beginning I assumed that the vast majority of screenings would be hosted by chiropractors who would have built in reach for their events.  It has been a wonderful surprise to me that the first 3 Tugg screenings out of the gate have been hosted by non-chiropractors.

It was my mission when making the film to tell a story about transformation through love that resonates with a broad audience.  I am lit up seeing that it is hitting that mark and inspiring people in all walks of life to "drop a love bomb"!

This is an interview between me and Karen about her experience of dropping the Love Bomb on Asheville through a theatrical screening:
