If you are like me, you have definitely gotten into going for quick fixes, in fact, the more urgent the desire for change often means the higher desire for a quick fix/magic bullet. The reality I have learned (the hard way) over time is that most of the time, if something seems to good to be true, it often is. So, what is the alternative? Focusing instead on the feel good of knowing you are taking small but steady steps, in the right direction, so that a year from now you can look back and say, wow, that was crazy-effective. Almost like a magic bullet :)
